Bread pudding

Ingredients
- 10 slices of wholemeal bread 
- 450ml semi skimmed milk 
- 2 eggs (beaten) 
- 1 tablespoon of oil 
- 1 apple (cored, peeled and chopped) 
- 125g sultanas 
- 1 tablespoon of light brown sugar 
- 1 tablespoon of mixed spice 
Method
- Preheat oven to 180° / Gas Mark 4 
- Cut the bread into cubes and place them in a bowl with the milk, leave to stand for five to 10 minutes until the bread soaks up all of the milk 
- Mix the egg and oil into the bread mixture and stir in the chopped apple, sultanas, sugar and mixed spice - spoon the mixture into a tin and press down 
- Bake in the centre of the oven for 40 to 45 minutes until golden, allow to cool then cut into squares
