Teenage Gym

Teenage Gym is a free 12 week gym and swim pass that supports teenagers to become more physically active and follow a healthy balanced diet.

The aim is to help introduce small, positive lifestyle changes that have a lasting effect over time.

The Teenage Gym pass can be extended at 12 week intervals up to a maximum of three times with a follow up at the end of each 12 week phase.

The programme allows young people to use the facilities at all five North Tyneside council leisure centres (Hadrian Leisure Centre, The Parks, Tynemouth Pool, Waves and The Lakeside Centre).

  • 1-2-1 nutrition support

  • 1-2-1 gym support

  • Access to free resources

The programme is subject to the following criteria: 

  • Aged between 14 and 17 years old`

  • Weight over the 98th BMI centile (although those over the 91st BMI centile can be offered a place on the programme) 

  • A resident of North Tyneside, attend a North Tyneside school or be registered with a North Tyneside GP
