Springing into a healthier lifestyle with Healthy4Life

The first Healthy4Life programme of 2022 has took place with families across North Tyneside learning all about how to live a healthier lifestyle.

With Active North Tyneside Trainers delivering sessions each week to help families learn about topics such as portion size and food labels, they were also introduced to plenty of ways to be active, some new recipe ideas, and even tried some new snacks.

As we reached the end of the programme, we asked some of the parents which part of Healthy4Life they enjoyed the most..

“Meeting other people and sharing experiences, advice and tips in a safe place.”

“Spending time with my son and seeing him spend time with his brother and sister.”

“Learning about packaging and food labels, nutritional information and the sugar session. What an eye opener!”

“Great group of people, children and facilitators. I would encourage any parent considering it to take part.”

“Bringing siblings was an unexpected boost. My son was very keen at the beginning that his siblings shouldn’t go with us, but circumstances meant I had to bring them. It gave him a chance to show them what he was learning and enjoying at home and boosted his confidence further.”

It’s great to have such positive feedback from the groups and we hope they all took something away with them to make a positive change, whether that was a love of a new sport or the discovery of a new vegetable!

Healthy4Life Trainer Michael said of the group: “Overall the programme has been a great success. Everyone involved engaged with the topics every week and it shows in their results.

“It was so nice to see the progress they made, myself and the coaching team noticed a big difference in the participant’s confidence and it was really nice to see them all make new friends, become active and learn lifestyle changes which they have now added to their daily routine”.
