Stride out to the Lighthouse this August
A great, free, family-friendly event where you get to enjoy the North Tyneside coastline and get your steps in.
Stride out to the Lighthouse is back for 2023, on Saturday 26 August. Registration is open now for individuals, families, friends, work colleagues and anyone else you can think of (dogs on leads are welcome too, of course!)
The route starts at The Parks Sports Centre where the Active North Tyneside team will be on hand to get you ready to go with a group warm up.
The six-mile walk will take you down the Fish Quay and River Tyne, past Tynemouth Priory and Castle, right along a beautiful stretch of coastline featuring the Spanish City Dome and finish at St Mary’s Lighthouse.
The walk starts at 10.30am but participants should arrive early to check in (even those pre-registered). You can powerwalk your way to the finish line or saunter along enjoying an ice lolly (weather permitting), it’s totally up to you. It’s all about getting outside, walking and feeling good.
The walk will be fully marshalled and is plastic free, so bring along a reusable water bottle to fill up on the route. Free fruit and refreshments will be available at the end. A free coach will take all participants back to The Parks after completing the walk.
