The Kit Hub saves over 1,000 items from landfill

It seems that landfills are last season.

The Kit Hub has been around for a few years, growing steadily in popularity, but in financial year 2025-2026 the team upped the ante taking the project on a tour around North Tyneside to reach as many residents as possible.

In the 12 months from April 2025 to March 2026, the team gave out 1,207 items of active wear and 363kg of clothing was donated. That equates to a saving of approximately 9,075kg of CO2*. That’s a huge achievement for the environment but it’s also a great way to help people get hold of the right kit so they can be physically active.

Summer is in our sights so for anyone wanting to take advantage of the lighter nights on our tennis courts, along the sea front sustainable route or at the athletics track there’s pre-loved clothes for children, young people and adults perfect for a walk along the beach or an intense cardio workout.

If you’d like to swap or pick up any items you need, you can visit The Kit Hub every Thursday, 10am-12pm at the Cedarwood Trust (NE29 7QT). Find out where you can make donations on The Kit Hub web page.
